About Us
First United Methodist Church is a vital congregation with a long history of concern for people and issues of social justice. Founders of the first day-care center in Williamstown, we support local and global ministries, and facilitate a weekly cancer support group. A number of Williams College students have found here a church home away from home: a place to worship, sing in the choir, teach Sunday school, offer leadership to youth, or gather for Bible study. All of the congregation is encouraged to participate in the worship experience, taking part in the praise team, the choir, and the children's choir, and serving as greeters, lay readers, ushers, and acolytes every Sunday.
Here is a place where you can make a difference.
We are located at 777 Main Street, at the intersection of Rt 43 and Rt 2 near the Williams College Campus. Worship services are every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Child care is always available, and during the school year we offer Sunday school at 9:30 for grade 6 through adults, and for Pre-k through Grade 5 following the Children's Moment in the worship service (about 10:45). Visitors are always welcome.
Since 1994 we have been a Reconciling Congregation. We appreciate our diversity and try to live the United Methodist motto: "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors."
